A Bachelorette No More

Courtesy of abc.com

Another season of The Bachelorette has come to an end and in true reality TV fashion, it ended with an engagement ring proposal set against an exotic backdrop.  After being sent home by Brad on last season’s The Bachelor, Ashley started off this season ready to find love.  She even announced that “her future husband is in the room,” upon meeting all of the bachelors for the first time.  With only Ben and JP left, there was only one thing left for Ashley to do – introduce them to her family.  JP was first in the hot seat as he sat through a rapid fire of questions from her family during lunch.  JP admitted that Ashley was the one for him and that he could see himself exchanging wedding rings with her and spending forever together.  Although they both openly expressed their feelings for one another, Ashley’s sister was not convinced about their relationship and thought that it was odd that such an older bachelor would fall for her quirky younger sister.

Trying to shake off the awkward meeting with JP, Ashley was visibly hesitant about having her family meet Ben.  Ben immediately fits in and wins her family over once he and Ashley started speaking to each other in annoyingly high pitched dog voices.  Although her sister tried to give him the same third degree as JP, she openly approves of their relationship and sees Ashley wearing any engagement ring given to her by Ben.  Following such a great meeting with the family, Ashley took Ben on a helicopter ride to a natural hot spring, where the couple rubbed mud all over each other.  Their date ended with Ben working up the courage to finally express to Ashley about how much he loved her.  When JP showed up for his last date with Ashley, it was clear that he was ready to fight for her love by telling her how head over heels he was for her.  With both men in self proclaimed love with Ashley, there was only one thing left for them to do – each pick out a diamond engagement ring, get down on one knee and propose.  Since there can only be one fairy tale ending, Ben was given a tearful send off from Ashley who refused his proposal before happily accepting a diamond ring from JP.  Although no wedding plans have been formally scheduled, hopefully Ashley and JP have better luck than Brad and Emily and actually make it down the aisle.

Bachelorette Ashley Narrows the Field Down to Two

Courtesy of realitytvmagazine.com

In true Bachelorette fashion, last night’s episode opened with a twist.  Upon arriving in Fiji, Ashley arrived at her house to find none other than kicked off Ryan waiting for her.  He flew all the way to Fiji to let her know that he couldn’t stop thinking about her and that their budding relationship deserved a second chance.  He left her with a lot to think about before her dates with the remaining guys.

The first one-on-one date went to Ben, who enjoyed a ride on the Love Boat.  Ashley and Ben’s chemistry was clearly evident on their boat ride as they openly flirted while lathering sunscreen on each other and holding hands while snorkeling.  During their romantic dinner, Ben admitted that he was definitely on his way to love, which led Ashley to give him a key to the fantasy suite that he enthusiastically accepted.  Ben seems like he is definitely ready to propose to Ashley with a diamond engagement ring at the final rose ceremony.

Ashley planned her second date for Constantine, where she planned a scenic helicopter ride over Fiji that led the pair to spend time at the base of a waterfall.  While at the waterfall, Ashley voiced her concerns over the slow progression of their relationship.  Ashley’s concerns were justified when Constantine announced at their romantic dinner that he wasn’t ready to present her with a diamond engagement ring and leaves before the date finished.  After being left shocked, Ashley immediately headed to Ryan’s hotel to let him know that although he was a great guy on paper, she could never see herself exchanging wedding bands with him in the future.

Did Ashley save the best for last?  The final one-on-one date was spent with JP at a private beach, which they accessed through a small plane ride.  The couple enjoyed some much needed alone time enjoying the secluded beach.  Ashley experienced a bit of déjà vu from her date with Constantine when JP announced at dinner that he was having trouble expressing his feeling for her while she was dating other guys.  Ashley calmed his nerves by telling him that it was just he and Ben remaining and presenting him with a key to the fantasy suite.  With the finale just around the corner, it seems like Ashley is leaning more towards JP leading into the final rose ceremony.  The question is will he be ready to present Ashley with a diamond engagement ring thus giving her the happy ending she has been looking for?

Bachelorette Has Home Town Visits and Picks Top Three

Courtesy of abc.com

Every season of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, the best episode for me is always the hometown visits where you get to see the remaining contestants in their element with their families.  Lasy night, Bachelorette Ashley headed to each of the remaining four guys hometowns to meet their families and see if she could picture herself living there as well.  The first hometown date went to Ben, who treated Ashley to a wine tasting at his Sonoma, CA vineyard.  Ben then introduced Ashley to his mother, after admitting she was only the second girl to meet mom, and his very protective sister, Julia.  The date seemed to be a success as they both admitted that they were falling for each other and that they could picture spending the rest of their lives together.  It seems like Ben definitely has his eye on the prize with Ashley and that he could see himself proposing with a diamond engagement ring after the final rose ceremony.

Ashley then headed to Cumming, GA for a hometown date with Constantine.  The pair spent the first half of their date learning how to make pizza at his restaurant.  They then headed to Constantine’s parent’s house where she also met his sister, Maria.  Ashley immediately connected with Constantine’s family even after being asked if she would relocate if Constantine ended up presenting her with a diamond engagement ring.  In true Greek fashion, Constantine’s ENTIRE family ended up at the house as well which led to a house full of dancing and singing.

After leaving Constantine, Ashley then traveled to visit Ames in his hometown of Chadds Ford, PA.  What would a hometown visit be without meeting the fam?!  Ames introduced Ashley to his mom, Jane, his brother and sister and both of their kids.  Ames’ family was quick to tell Ashley that he took a lot to get to know and that he really stepped up after the death of his father and stepfather.  After admitting to his sister that he’s falling for Ashley, she helped him plan a romantic picnic that led to a sweet kiss under a magnolia tree.

I wonder if it was a coincidence that Ashley saved J.P.’s hometown visit for last?  After much joking on a few of their dates about his NY rollerblading escapades, J.P. took Ashley to a Long Island roller rink for a quick trip around the roller rink where J.P. was first to take a fall.  Of course a kiss from Ashley seemed to make the fall worth it.  After roller skating, J.P. took Ashley to meet his mom, dad and his brother.  His mom expressed how protective she was of her son and that she didn’t want his heart to be broken.  To ease his mother’s worries, J.P. admits that he can see himself proposing to Ashley with a diamond engagement ring.  After all of the four hometown dates, Ashley decided to send Ames home at the rose ceremony saying the romantic connection just wasn’t there.  Next week Ashley will take the remaining three guys to Fiji in order to decide who will be the best to spend the rest of her life with.

The Bachelorette Chooses Her Final Four

Courtesy of abc.com

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a whole two weeks since the last episode of The Bachelorette.  Last night, we picked up again in Asia with the remaining six guys vying to make it to the final rose ceremony.  The night started off with Ashley presenting the first one-on-one date to Constantine.  The pair quickly took off on a steam engine to the remote village of Ping Shi, where they took part in the traditional lantern festival.  The couple painted imagery on their lantern of things they were both hoping for in their relationship.  It was a pretty big step for the rather reserved Constantine to paint an engagement ring and children on the lantern with Ashley.  After a romantic dinner, the couple then released their lantern into the sky with the rest of the village.

Ashley then gave another one-on-one date to Constantine’s twin, Ben.  She and Ben stayed close to each other as they went for a scooter ride through Taroko National Park.  While on her date with Ben, Ashley admitted that she considered him to be her boyfriend, as was evident with the make out session on the suspension bridge.  The pair then caused quite the controversy when Ben returned back to the hotel first thing in the morning to a very angry J.P., whose jealousy really shone through.  Then came the worst group date in all of The Bachelorette history!  Ashley took the insanely jealous J.P., Lucas and Ames to take mock wedding photos.  Seriously, she doesn’t even have the engagement ring and she’s making them take wedding photos?  This sent J.P. over the edge completely and his only consolation was getting the group date rose from Ashley.

After J.P.’s temper tantrum, Ashley chose Ryan for the night’s last one-on-one date.  The pair started off by reflecting on people praying to different gods in the temple and after discussing the practice of people doing Tai Chi, Ryan launched into what seemed like a business pitch.  This put Ashley over the edge and she told him that it wasn’t working out and walked away leaving him with just the camera crew.  Forgoing the cocktail party for the second time this season to cut right to the rose ceremony, Ashley then sent Lucas packing and leaving Constantine, Ben, J.P. and Ames still in the running for the final rose and a chance to propose with a diamond engagement ring.

Also on last night’s episode was the heart wrenching interview with Chris Harrison and former Bachelor winner, Emily Maynard.  The single mom was presented with a diamond engagement ring from Bachelor Brad at the final rose ceremony but after the season ended the couple found themselves at the center of every tabloid story around.  The pressure seemed to be too much for the couple, and although they both admittedly still love and care for each other they have no plans of exchanging wedding bands anytime soon.  Maybe Bentley will get his wish and have Emily be the next Bachelorette.

Bachelorette Ashley Confronts Bentley and is One Step Closer to Finding “The One.”

Courtesy of abc.com

In true Bachelorette fashion, this week’s episode kicked off with a bang.  Self-proclaimed player, bachelor Bentley, showed up in Hong Kong to toy with Ashley’s emotions some more.  Before meeting him in room 4315, Ashley had a heart to heart sit down with Chris Harrison, who demanded that she get some answers from Bentley.  Upon meeting, Ashley’s instant attraction to Bentley resurfaced until he declared that he was ending any sort of relationship that they had and that he wouldn’t be proposing to her with a diamond engagement ring.

After exercising demon Bentley, Ashley and Lucas share a one-on-one date where they travel the streets of Hong Kong.  Over a romantic dinner, Lucas opened up about exchanging wedding bands previously and why his marriage didn’t work out.  Ashley believed that he truly learned from the experience and gives him a kiss and a rose.  Next up for the group was a group date of dragon boat racing.  Mickey and Ames took off from the starting line with something to prove, which paid off for the pair who ended up victorious.  Coming off his dragon boat win, Ames decided to make his move with Ashley and engaged in an all out make out session in the elevator.  Although Ashley seemed to enjoy making out with Ames, she ended up giving the group date rose to Ryan – the most hated man in the house second to Bentley.

Ashley decided to give JP the second one-on-one date, where she opened up about her Hong Kong run-in with Bentley.  Although he seemed slightly annoyed at the mere mention of the name Bentley, he was glad that Ashley could be so open with him.  If I were to bet on any of the bachelors, I would put money on JP as being the one to win Ashley’s heart and propose at the final rose ceremony with a diamond engagement ring.  Ashley decided to be honest about Bentley’s visit with the other guys at the rose ceremony, which caused Mickey to leave before the roses were given out.  After much crying, Ashley then sent fellow dentist, Blake home, ending his quest for her love and taking him out of the running for presenting her with a sparkler of an engagement ring.  Next week, Ashley takes the six remaining bachelors to Taiwan, where more will be sent packing as Ashley narrows down who she can spend the rest of her life with.  Who do you think she will pick?

Not even the Dreaded Double Elimination Date Could Hurt Ashley’s Chances of Finding True Love

Although Ashley admitted to still thinking about Bentley on last night’s episode of The Bachelorette, she definitely seemed to find comfort in some of the remaining 12 guys.  Upon leaving Phuket, the remaining men joined Ashley in peaceful Chiang Mai.  First on the agenda was the one-on-one date with Ben F, with whom Ashley seemed quite taken with after he painted the mural at the children’s orphanage last week.  To me, he seems like one of Ashley’s favorites so far and could definitely see an engagement ring proposal in both of their futures.  The definitely seemed like a couple who had been dating for a while as they strolled through the tranquil town.  Because the temple is such a sacred setting, they settled on a “mental” kiss and saved their kiss for after the flower-filled romantic dinner that shared later that night.

Talk about a group date!  This might have been a first in The Bachelorette history that actually let the guys take out a lot of their frustration out on each other without getting one of them kicked off the show.  The eight men engaged in the tradition of Muay Thai Fighting that had them training then competing against each other in the ring.  Ames, who had never been in a fight in his life, was knocked out hard enough to find himself in the emergency room.  After returning later that evening, he announced to Ashley that the doctors diagnosed him with being in love.  With a comment like that, he definitely earned himself a place in the running for making it to the final rose ceremony.  What won’t men do for true love?!

Then came the dreaded two-on-one date with Ben C. and William who were enjoying a nice rafting trip when William abruptly announced that Ben C. couldn’t wait to leave and get back to his life of online dating.  Upon hearing that, Ashley abruptly ended the date to send Ben C. packing.  William’s plan seemed to backfire however, as Ashley immediately sent him home too feeling no connection with him anymore.  The tension leading into the rose ceremony was obvious, but in the end Ashley chose to send Nick home, ending his chances at proposing with a diamond engagement ring.  Next week the remaining eight men join Ashley in Hong Kong were a surprise guest arrives to spoil everyone’s plans.  Who could the mystery guest be?!

Engagement Ring Proposal for a Former Bachelor and Bachelorette

Courtesy of the bostonherald.com

After the final roses are given out on both The Bachelor and The Bachelorette and an engagement ring proposal is given by the winner, have you ever been left wondering “did the runner up ever find lover?”  Although he didn’t find love with Bachelorette, Ali Fedotowsky, former fan favorite, Chris Lambton has given his final rose to Peyton Wright.  Wright had previously tried to find love on The Bachelor, but was sent packing before receiving the final rose.  She no longer has to wait for her prince charming, as she received a diamond engagement ring proposal from Lambton, whom she began dating after meeting at a “Bachelor” function.  After enduring a long distance relationship, which consisted of a great deal of iChatting and phone conversations, they are now ready to say “I do.”  Although no date to exchange wedding bands has been set, the couple is extremely excited to be spending the rest of their lives together.  Will Bachelorette Ashley be so lucky?  Be sure to tune into tonight’s episode to see the latest contestant to be sent packing and which ones are still in the running to pop the question with a diamond engagement ring all their own.

Love in Thailand for the Bachelorette: A Step Closer to Her Finding a Man and a Ring

Courtesy of abc.com

After the drama of last week, what better way to take Bachelorette Ashley’s mind off of Bentley than sweeping her and the twelve remaining men off to Thailand?!  The trip started with Constantine landing the coveted one-on-one date with Miss Ashley.  Although they were supposed to spend the day on a private beach, the weather gods had different plans for them.  They actually met a Thai man who has been married for 36 years, who told them the key to a successful relationship was to forgive and forget and that love isn’t about winning.  I guess that The Bachelorette series isn’t that popular in Thailand, as the whole premise of the show is men competing to win the heart of the reality starlette and presenting her with a diamond engagement ring.  Finally the rain stopped and allowed for the pair to share a romantic dinner on the sand, where Constantine opened up about past meaningless relationships and how he was now ready to go the distance and make the ultimate commitment – finding true love and exchanging wedding bands with the lucky lady.  Ashley hoped that she was the lucky lady and ended up giving him a rose.

Then came the heartwarming group date, where Ashley and crew headed to the Baan San Fan Orphanage, which is a community established to help children who lost their parents and families in the tsunami a few years ago.  It’s really great that the show gives the contestants the opportunity to take part in events that actually give back to those in need.  Ashley was impressed with the mural that Ben painted on one of the walls and actually joined in to help.  The highlight for everyone watching was when the children arrived with absolutely amazing expressions of joy and happiness on their faces at their new facility.  It almost made you forget that it was a dating competition show where everyone was to present Ashley with a diamond engagement ring when all is said and done.

The second one-one-one date was awarded to Ames, who explains how his spontaneous personality brought him to Thailand before for cooking classes.  Their date was amazing, as they were able to kayak through the caves and caverns of Thailand taking in all of the beautiful scenery.   After her date with Ames, Ashley realizes that she didn’t really get to know any of the men because of her attraction to Bentley.  She decided to give him a rose and later decides to give another rose out, so she doesn’t make the mistake of sending someone home that deserves to be there.  In the end, she ends up sending West home because she doesn’t feel he is ready to move on from the death of his wife and fears that he isn’t ready to commit to another engagement ring proposal after such a devastating event.  The remaining 11 men are still in the competition to win over Ashley’s heart and take one step closer to walking down the aisle.

Did Heartbreak Ruin the Bachelorette’s Chances for Finding Love?

Courtesy of abc.com

This week of The Bachelorette was a tough one to watch.  Having been watching the past few weeks and seeing how Bentley would say one thing to Ashley’s face and another during his candid interviews, you knew that it was going to blow up eventually – and it did!  Before things hit the fan however, Ashley had a great one-on-one date with Ben C., the New Orleans lawyer.  After last week’s group dance date, Ben expressed that he would love to participate in any other dance related dates.  Well last night he surely got his wish, as he and Ashley headed to an outdoor mall where a flash mob erupted around them.  Their fun date continued with a special serenading from the Far East Movement and ended with a kiss after much coaxing from the crowd.

Before heading out on the group date, masked man Jeff, finally removed his mask and reveals his true identity.  Ashley seemed unimpressed but was glad that he finally dropped the act, as we all were as well.  Then came the awkward group date, where all of the bachelors were able to roast Ashley.  Some played it safe by taking shots at each other, some made fun of her chest size and some said that she was Brad Womack’s leftovers.  The worst “roast” of the night came from William when he said that he was disappointed that The Bachelorette wasn’t Emily or Shawntel.  After hearing that, Ashley left in tears only to be comforted by Bentley, who told her that 24 out of the 25 guys were glad that she was The Bachelorette.  Little did she know that he was the 1 person who wasn’t glad that she was this season’s Bachelorette.  After seeing her so upset about William’s comments, Bentley decided to lower the boom and saw this as his opportune time to mess with her head even more.  He told Ashley that he was leaving because he missed spending time with his daughter, which forced Ashley to crawl under the covers alone in tears.

You couldn’t help but feel bad for J.P. who scored the second one-on-one date of the evening.  He knew that Ashley was exhausted after the Bentley incident, so he was adorable by slapping on some sweatpants and having Chinese food by the fire.  Ashley promises to have a more fun date with J.P. the next time, if he promises to accept a rose.  Sealed with a kiss, J.P. accepted.  Still exhausted from losing Bentley, Ashley skipped the rose ceremony and went right into the rose ceremony.  Following Bentley home without any hopes of popping the question and presenting Ashley with an engagement ring were the newly unmasked Jeff and Chris D.  Next week, the remaining bachelors head to Thailand in hopes of winning Ashley’s heart.  Who do you think will win Ashley’s heart?

The Bachelorette – Will Ashley Find her Man AND an Engagement Ring?

All I can say, is thank goodness for DVR.  With the holiday weekend, I was unable to watch the latest issue of The Bachelorette live, as I was BBQ hopping for the holiday.  I am already in love with this season of The Bachelorette.  Ashley’s personality mixed with the eclectic group of guys is already making for great TV.  This week kicked off with a trip to Vegas, where Ashley took William on the first one-on-one date of the season.  The first stop on the date was to a wedding cake shop followed by diamond engagement ring shopping.  The highlight of the date of course was seeing William’s face when they arrived at the wedding chapel, where he initially thought that it was all a joke until the minster walked out followed by Ashley in a white dress.  Although William said “I do,” he and Ashley didn’t exchange wedding bands – only a kiss.  Their date ended with a romantic dinner in the middle of the Bellagio fountain where the timing couldn’t have been better as they shared a kiss right before the show began.

Then came the group date where the remaining men were divided into two teams called the “Best Men” and “No Rhythm Nation.”  After a day of practicing, the winning team was “No Rhythm Nation,” who got to perform that night while the other team headed back to LA.  Since the group was in Vegas, Ashley flipped a coin to determine who would get the coveted second one-on-one date.  After the coin toss chose Mickey, Ashley decided to use the coin toss to determine everything that they were going to do on their date, including whether or not he would get a rose.  Although she was going to give him a rose all along, Mickey was relieved and the night ended with a beach concert with Colbie Caillat.

Once back with the group, all of the men immediately began to fight for Ashley’s attention.  Poor Masked Man Jeff, who had pulled Ashley away to the private staircase where he was going to finally reveal his true identity before he was interrupted by Matt stepped in.  In the end, Stephen, Matt and Ryan M were sent packing after the rose ceremony while the others remain one step closer to winning Ashley’s heart and proposing with an engagement ring.
