Jason Mesnick from last season has given up his ‘Bachelor’ status and proposed to the runner-up to his heart Molly Malaney. He had ended the season giving one of the final roses to Melissa Rycroft, after which they went off to New Zealand where he proposed to her on national television. On a wrap-up episode, Jason put the kibosh on his proposal to Melissa and chose the runner-up Molly instead.
Since the fated episode, Jason returned to the island nation with his new love Molly and a diamond engagement ring. I wonder if it was a RITANI ring?? He proposed to her a week later and she accepted. Supposedly it’s the real deal this time around, as he “contended he was being true to his heart, and that his reversal was the right thing for everyone, including Rycroft” (who got engaged to a former beau herself several months later).
Molly has forgiven him for not choosing her from the start. They have been seeing each other as much as they can considering she lives in Milwaukee and he in Seattle. Jason and Molly were guests of Air New Zealand, who hired them to host the world’s first “Matchmaking Flight,” where 100 singles from North America traveled from L.A. to Auckland, New Zealand.
These reality shows sure pack a lot of drama but I am concerned about the lack of substance. Will these two actually walk down the aisle together or is this just another way for him to get a little more out of his 15 minutes.

There is a lot of talk about the Bachelor this.. and the Bachelorette that.., but just because people go onto a reality TV show and profess undying love does not mean that their “love” is truly undying! Ask Melissa Rycroft if she thinks True Love “Reality TV” style is all that it’s cracked up to be.
Anyway, we all know how it went down right? Jason the confused girl crazy father of one whittles his way through a throng of beautiful eligible women before ultimately dropping to his knees and proffering a diamond engagement ring to the true love of his life. Sounds so Walt Disneyfied right? The romance of a century, the “Hollywood” engagement witnessed by all– the whole world coalescing and turning on the axis of another steamy romantic engagement while people from all around the globe stop and draw in a collective sigh- so beautiful, so wonderful, so juicy. We marvel at the “cupidesque” abilities of these entertainment industry producers who seem to have a golden touch for love. And then, he dumped her!!! On national television for all to see! Isn’t it great, ain’t it grand? Duped again, and those genius Hollywood produces were happier than ever because now the ratings were really flying! Come on, ratings people know that a happy story is only trumped by an even tastier sad story. And poor Melissa Rycroft red faced and embarrassed just sat and stirred; heartbroken and confused.
But that was not the story of it. She picked herself up and danced her way into the arms of truly great guy by the name of Ty Strickland. The two have been together for a couple of months and finally she is happily engaged. News of the June engagement hit the wires this past week and now she is sporting a new engagement ring. One that is true reality; one that represents true love, and not just some Holly’weird’ trinket!
