ngagement to Edmonton Oiler’s hockey player Mike Comrie.  She is the second hockey fiance of the year, following Carrie Underwood’s engagement to Ottawa Senator’s Mike Fisher.  What are they putting in the water?!?!…and then freezing it.  Hilary and Mike got engaged a few weeks ago after dating for two years while vacationing in Hawaii.  We don’t know what kind of engagement ring she is wearing, but my bet is that it’s probably a pretty fancy diamond!  If you’re looking for stylish diamond engagement rings, check out Ritani’s wide selection!

Tara Reid and a Pink Diamond Engagement Ring??

Tara and the Billionaire...

Tara and the Billionaire...

We all know that she has had her share of ups and her frequent share of downs, but if this is true and Tara has received an engagement ring then good for her! We are happy; the world is happy.

Word has it that Tara Reid is engaged to Michael Axtman, a billionaire and Internet entrepreneur from Germany.

These rumors are coming from people who have seen Reid donning a large pink diamond ring on her left hand which is a hard thing to miss, and sources have also noticed the couple traveling together in St. Tropez and Germany.

Anyway, a handsome internet billionaire?! Way to go Tara! With a wallet like that we can only suspect that the ring on her finger is a RITANI. And of all the engagement ringsout there a pink diamond center is definitely something different.

Former ‘Bachelor’ gives an engagement ring to his second choice!

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Jason Mesnick from last season has given up his ‘Bachelor’ status and proposed to the runner-up to his heart Molly Malaney.  He had ended the season giving one of the final roses to Melissa Rycroft, after which they went off to New Zealand where he proposed to her on national television.  On a wrap-up episode, Jason put the kibosh on his proposal to Melissa and chose the runner-up Molly instead.

Since the fated episode, Jason returned to the island nation with his new love Molly and a diamond engagement ring.  I wonder if it was a RITANI ring??  He proposed to her a week later and she accepted.  Supposedly it’s the real deal this time around, as he “contended he was being true to his heart, and that his reversal was the right thing for everyone, including Rycroft”  (who got engaged to a former beau herself several months later).

Molly has forgiven him for not choosing her from the start.  They have been seeing each other as much as they can considering she lives in Milwaukee and he in Seattle.  Jason and Molly were guests of Air New Zealand, who hired them to host the world’s first “Matchmaking Flight,” where 100 singles from North America traveled from L.A. to Auckland, New Zealand.

These reality shows sure pack a lot of drama but I am concerned about the lack of substance.  Will these two actually walk down the aisle together or is this just another way for him to get a little more out of his 15 minutes.

“No Country For SINGLE Men” Penelope Cruz & Javier Bardem are Engaged?

Bardem and Cruz engaged

Bardem and Cruz engaged?

Us Weekly is reporting that Hollywood heartthrobs Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem are engaged, but they are also saying that the couple is keeping the engagement very “hush hush”.

Reports are coming in mentioning that Bardem 40 and Cruz 35 are indeed planning on walking down the aisle together but at this time there are no details about when and where the nups will take place. Cruz says she is very interested in starting a family and having kids but that marriage is not necessarily on the top of the list.

Back in August she told Britain’s Psychologies magazine that she wasn’t exactly ready for marriage saying, “I believe in family, love and children. I want to have babies one day but not right now. When I do it I want to do it really well. I want it to be my best project in life.”

So question is did she get a designer engagement ring? Sources are not saying anything since news of the likely engagement is being filtered down. It is obvious however that the

couple is serious since a close friend of Bardem and Cruz did tell The New York Daily News’ Rush & Molloy that the couple are in fact informing  friends that “they will be getting married.”

Well engagement ring or not we hope the very best for them.

Does Reese have an engagement ring on her finger or is this another tease?

Jake and Reese

Jake and Reese

On Wednesday Reese Witherspoon was spotted in LA wearing what looked like a gold designer engagement ring according photos snapped by Paparazzi.

But according to Access Hollywood, Reese is not engaged to boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal and the bling in question is not a designer engagement ring.

A source said, “Reese looked delighted, and she was definitely showing off the ring. She kept holding her finger up for people to see, she even flashed it around when she was getting in her car.”

The couple, who met on the set of the 2007 film “Rendition,” have been fending off marriage rumors for quite a while. This is not the first time it has been reported the couple-who began dating in 2007-are planning to marry. Earlier this year, Jake was spotted ring shopping in New York. In March, it was claimed Reese removed a sparkly band during a photo shoot as she didn’t want people to know she was planning to walk down the aisle.

Could Jake be working on surprising Reese anytime soon, or are we going to have to keep speculating?!

In Kardashian news……Khloé is getting married this weekend!!!

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009
Khloé and Lamar

Khloé and Lamar

Reality starlet Khloé Kardashian is engaged to NBA baller Lamar Odom, after a very short time dating.  Gossips on the net said they were seen picking out an engagement ring last week. This week, they made phone calls to invite friends and family to the wedding for Sunday Sept. 27, just in case the paper invites by mail was too slow!!

Apparently, Lamar has to go to training for the next NBA season, so they wanted to get hitched and go on their honeymoon beforehand.

Anywhoo, it seems the Kardashians are quite busy lately.  Kourtney is expecting her baby this December and Kim, well, is Kim.  Who knows what she is up to, but I find it interesting that the most desirable and eligible bachelorette of the family has broken off her engagement to Reggie Bush this year, while her younger sister is the one walking down the aisle.  Those Kardashian girls love their athletes!

Congratulations to Khloé and Lamar, and good luck trying to have a happy marriage while the cameras are rolling on ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’.

Pre-engagement ring season… Guy’s, do you know what you are looking for?

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Fall is coming up on us and guys who are planning that holiday engagement are doing their homework and trying to figure out what the various engagement rings there are to consider. Or at least they should be thinking about it right now.

Getting her the ring she really wants

Getting her the ring she really wants

This is one of the most popular times during the year to be making that engagement ring purchase so, guys, be sure that you work quickly, thoroughly and covertly as you attempt to get all of the information needed regarding the engagement ring that your girlfriend wants. Remember, due to the fact that so many people will be purchasing engagement rings during this time of the year it is important that you get your orders in pronto! You don’t want to be running up against a time snag as the big moment arrives right? I mean you have enough on your plate working out the proposal strategy. Get the ring early and hide it away. Don’t procrastinate and wait until the last minute; too much can go wrong.

Here are some tips that should help:

  1. Find her ring size. Don’t dilly dally! Ask a friend for hers. If you have access to her jewelry box or if you can get a hold of a ring that you know she wears on her left hand put it on your pinkie and mark wear it stops. Remember that if you make it a little bigger it can always be re-sized down. Your best bet will be talking to someone who knows her well enough and who also won’t spill the beans
  2. Decide on a budget. Industry people seem to think that the ring should cost you two months of salary. The bottom line is spend what you are comfortable spending after all you know what she is worth to you.
  3. Find a jewelry store. Ask married a friend where he or she went to get their rings. Get a good referral. If you know that she prefers a specific designer then go to that designers website and look up local retailers through their store locator. If you know that she likes RITANI you can find a store at ritani.com.
  4. Choose a stone. Buy her a diamond. Keep in mind the four C’s: Cut, Clarity, Color, Carat. You will want to consider all of this but paying careful attention to the Cutsince this will be the first distinguishing characteristic that she will notice when you give it her. Find out what shape she most prefers. Again consult a friend or a family member. The next obvious characteristic is Carat. Determine how large the stone will be. Cost will have something to say about how many carats you go with so again feel it out. You know how much she is worth to you and be sure you get something that you will be proud to give her. Diamonds typically start at 0.5ct for $1,500 up to 3.0ct for $22,000. After Carat you will want to decide on Color. You want a diamond that is as colorless as possible. The closer it is to colorless the more valuable to becomes. The cost color scale starts at “D” for colorless and goes on up all the way to “Z”. The average diamond for cost efficiency vs color falls somewhere in the G - J range. Again as was mentioned you need to figure all the cost together and determine what she is worth to you. The last thing to remember about the diamond before you buy it is Clarity. Similar to color this refers to how easily you can see any imperfections in the diamonds, be they on the surface (”blemishes”) or inside the diamond (”inclusions”). Why does it matter? Because fewer flaws = more light reflected = more sparkle. And we all want the sparkliest diamond we can get. The scale for considering clarity goes like this: flawless, internally flawless, VVS1, VVS2, VS1, VS2, SI1, SI2, I1, I2, I3. Flawless diamonds mean that you can’t see any imperfections under 10X magnification, and I3 diamonds are ones where Mr. Magoo would see the imperfections. So what does this mean? It means that when you go to the jeweler and ask about a diamond and (s)he tells you its clarity grade, you’ll know what you’re getting. Now here’s the most important thing to know: unless you’re an oil tycoon or want to blow a lot of cash, get a VS or SI diamond. While technically imperfect, you cannot tell these diamonds are flawed unless you look at them under a microscope. In fact, we bet that if you looked at a SI2 and VVS1 next to each other after they’d been set in a ring, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. All that matters is that you think it’s pretty.
  5. Choose the setting and the band. Now all that’s left is to decide on the setting and the band. Fortunately, this is much easier than picking out a diamond. Just go with what you think is pretty and what you think she’d like. This is when having one of her friends with you could be particularly handy; she might know her ring style. Visit RITANI.com to see many of todays hottest settings and wedding bands.

Once you have these elements taken care you’ll want to first find the one you like, then see how scary the price tag is, then bargain the jeweler down to a price you can afford (remembering that your first offer should be less than you’re willing to spend, so that you can still afford the final offer), then propose to your sweetie!

Remember you will most likely only do this once in you life so as best you can try to fun with it. Afterward you can always bring it back to the jeweler for changes and modifications. Good Luck

His and Her Designer Wedding Bands

His and Her Designer Wedding Bands

Here’s the scenario, she finally gets the engagement ring that she always wanted– the right designer, the right diamond, right cut, right this, right that and right on down the line. life is good and the road to the alter is all down hill.

Preperations begin immediately– the wedding cake is on order, flowers arraingments and catering are being decided upon along with a whole host of other details and considerations all swirling and converging in what seems like a perfect storm of decisions and mind numbing-overwhelmingness! As the clock ticks and the deadlines approach a sick feeling that perhaps something was overlooked begins to creep in and so the notebooks and outlines fan out over the table once again and checklists get checked and rechecked. With relief and surprise all is on track and seemingly under control. The big day is a few months away and then a few weeks and then a few days and still everything is coming together nicely save for a hitch here and there. However, with the help of family and friends and the ever watchful eye of the wedding planner the storm relents and the sun begins to poke through.

The day finally comes and it seems like everything is in place. The details were all considered and accounted for except for two important little things, the wedding bands! Seems impossible doesn’t it, but creative genius prevails and substitutes, although slightly used and lack luster, provide a perfect subterfuge for the real thing. Disappointment is forgotten once the reception rolls on, but could this happen? It probably has happened and will likely probably happen again.

What if RITANI provided the wedding bands for free and no time was needed to spend on shopping around for bands? Could be a sweet surprise. This is what is being offered when you click here.

Have fun and announce your engagement to people who may not already know and get entered to win designer wedding bands only from RITANI.

A video ecard or cupids arrow?

Announce Your Engagement

Announce Your Engagement

I want to share this story of a couple from Poughkeepsie New York who discovered the Announce Your Engagement video ecard on the knot.com and decided to get creative with it. Well, he proposed and gave her a gorgeous three stone engagement ring and the couple was off and running. Time, they thought, to start planning for the big day!

So, they jumped on the knot and began looking up all sorts of wedding day resources, eventually coming across the Announce Your Engagement video ecard. “Why not?!” they thought. So she got started right away. She put their faces on the dancers, chose the beach scene, plugged in 10 email address and shot it off! Seems very sweet doesn’t it? It gets better! HER best friend didn’t receive a video announcing the couples recent engagement, and HIS brother didn’t get one either. Seems a little strange until you know that the newly engaged couple had been trying to hook the two of them up for quite some time and after using the ecard they decided to have a little fun with it.

They dug up pictures of the brother and the best friend, scanned them in and made a video ecard of the two and sent it to everyone BUT them! Imagine the rest of the respective family’s surprise! Kind of pranky I thought after receiving one of the “prank” ecards myself. As it turned out word immediately got back to the brother and the best friend. Some had questions and others were just plain shocked, namely his mother on account of the fact that she had no clue and felt entirely left out of the loop.

But the best friend and the brother were undoubtedly the most surprised by the prank. Neither one apparently was in tune to the power of the forces at work behind their backs. When the newly engaged couple finally broke the news and confessed it seemed that a change had occurred. The brother and the best friend were planning to get together as a result of all the attention! Not sure what will happen next, but who knew a prank could have such an exciting result!
