The Bachelor Finale – Brad’s South African Proposal!

Courtesy of ABC

I have to admit, that I was a little nervous when watching the season finale of The Bachelor in that I had NO idea who he was going to pick.  The remaining two women, Chantal and Emily, were in Cape Town, South Africa.  Instead of having a hometown visit with Brad’s family, both women were given the chance to meet his mom, Pam, his twin brother, Chad and his little brother Wes.  Brad’s whole family immediately saw the connection that he had with Chantal, as she definitely fit in with everyone.  However, meeting Emily everyone commented on how more reserved she was than Chantal, but Brad’s mom thought that she was the woman for her son and that she deserved the diamond engagement ring.

Brad then had two one-on-one dates with each of the women, to decide who he was going to propose to for sure.  Although their relationship has had its share of ups and downs this season, their final date had them facing sharks – no literally swimming in Great White shark infested waters.  What a way to let her down easy Brad!  Not only did you not present her with the engagement ring that she had been waiting for, but you had her facing her underwater fear yet again, this time you threw in a few extra obstacles to spice up the date.  Once back on dry land, Chantal presented Brad a map of the world that had red dots on all of the places that they had been together, as they have visited quite a few locations this season.  Accompanying the homemade map was a truly heartfelt note from her conveying how much she cared for him and that she was truly in love with him.

For his final date with Emily, Brad took her on a helicopter ride to the Cape of Good Hope where Brad poured his heart out to her about how much he loved her and how ready he was to be a father to her daughter, Ricky.  They really could have ended the show there, as Brad made it pretty clear that he was going to propose to Emily with an engagement ring. Finally being happy, of course Emily had to sabotage the date by giving Brad the third degree about really wanting to be a dad and that it’s not always tea and crumpets dealing with a child.  Brad left the date feeling down hearted and unsure of himself more than ever.  Of course he couldn’t feel too down for too long as he was off to purchase an engagement ring.

With a Neil Lane diamond engagement ring in hand, Brad set off to propose to one woman and send the other one packing.  Once Chantal arrived first, it was clear that she wasn’t the woman that Brad had chosen.  Leaving South Africa completely in tears and heartbroken, Chantal left without Brad and without his engagement ring.  Then came Emily, who we all know was going to be proposed to by Brad.  Presenting Emily with his engagement ring, she immediately explained that she felt like the happiest woman in the world.  Now that they have an engagement ring, when will Emily Brad start planning a wedding?!

The Bachelor – The Claws were OUT as the Women Told All!

Courtesy of ABC

What a season of The Bachelor this has been!  With the finale now less than a week away, Brad has all of us wondering did he choose to present with an engagement ring, sweet Emily or seductive Chantal?  Last night’s episode is usually one of my favorites every season as the women who didn’t make the cut come back to talk about the experience.

The gloves were definitely off last night as the women had their claws out in full force rehashing all of the drama from the season.  Host Chris Harrison started the night by bringing former contestant, Melissa down to the hot seat to talk about her issues with Rachel.  They started off by showing her crazy behavior from the season and then she and Rachel started yelling at each other from across the stage.  I was actually disappointed as to how much time they actually dedicated to this feud as neither of them ever had a chance with Brad let alone receiving his engagement ring!

Then came the all out war against this season’s deemed “villain,” Michelle Money.  Almost all of the women on stage launched an all out attack against her when she took the hot seat with Chris Harrison.  Michelle explained that she felt she was inaccurately portrayed as she was really someone who has a “dry and witty sense of humor.”  Even Chris Harrison took a stand against the on going attacks, as some of the women even began questioning her role as a mother.  As much as I found her entertaining this season, she deserves an Academy Award for best actress if she really isn’t as mean and manipulative as she portrayed this season.  In the end, she admitted that her relationship with Brad wouldn’t have worked out because watching the season now, it’s clear to her now that the relationship meant more to her than it did Brad.

Then came the newly brunette, Ashley H., who spoke about being the last woman to be kicked off before possibly receiving an engagement ring proposal from Brad.  She was evidently upset when they showed footage of her and Brad throughout the season as she clearly felt something for him.  Later in the show when Brad was brought out before the group of castoffs, he spoke to Ashley about the demise in their relationship and he owned up to the fact that he didn’t make her secure enough not to question his intentions throughout the season.  Brad then admitted that he was “truly in love” and falls more and more in love with the woman that he chose every day.  As I have said from the beginning, I am thinking that Emily is a shoe in but Chantal has definitely been giving her a run for her money.  I cannot wait to see who he presents with an engagement ring next week on the finale.

The Bachelor…And then There Were Two!

Courtesy of ABC - www.examiner.com

I have said it before and I will say it again, the remaining contestants on this season’s The Bachelor are insanely lucky to have traveled to the amazing places and been able to experience what they have all the while falling in love with Brad and hoping to receive his engagement ring.  Last night’s episode definitely didn’t disappoint as the three remaining women, Chantal, Emily and Ashley, arrived in South Africa for their Fantasy Dates with Brad.  Chantal received the first date and was taken on an exotic safari where the couple came face to face with lions, giraffe and some hippos.  Then the couple shared a romantic, riverside picnic where an armed guard was standing close by with a shotgun in case any of the wildlife wanted to fight for Brad’s attention as well.  At dinner, Brad presented Chantal with a Fantasy Card that contained a key to a suite that they could share together instead of going back to their respective quarters.  Chantal was not shy at all about wanting some alone time with Brad, telling him that they needed to “hurry” and quickly abandoned their dinner.  Their “fantasy” suite turned out to be an open air treehouse, which they both seemed hesitantly eager about.  In the end, Chantal was sure to express and show how much she cared for Brad and how much she was looking forward to having him propose.

I have said it many a times, but Emily is my favorite and will continue to be my favorite of the entire season.  She continues to win the audience and Brad over every week.  She received the second date with Brad, where he surprised her with an elephant ride and a picnic at an elephant watering hole where Brad admitted that he missed her daughter, Ricky.  Later at dinner, Emily finally vocalized that she was “falling in love” with Brad to which he immediately responded that he was falling in love with her, which is very much against the show’s rules.  Everyone sees how much of a connection they have together.  This week, former Bachelorette, Ali Fedotowsky tweeted during last night’s show, “Does Brad send 2 girls home 2night bc he basically just picked Emily. Happy for him, but kind of feel like he is stringing the others along.”  I have even more respect for Emily after she told Brad that she would join him in the “fantasy” suite but that since she was a mother, she would be setting a good example for her daughter.  I mean, how can he NOT give her the engagement ring after that?!

Then came possibly the most awkward date of the season thus far, when Brad surprised a terrified Ashley with a helicopter ride around Sabi Sands.  The couple then shared a picnic at a beautiful scenic vista, called “God’s Window,” by the locals where Brad out Ashley in the hot seat and basically started a rapid fire of questions for her to answer.  One of the topics they discussed was where Ashley wanted to live.  When she didn’t immediately list his hometown of Austin, Texas, Brad threw up his hands and seemed discouraged that she had no desire to uproot her life for him.  He of course took this to mean that she wasn’t willing to commit to him and he immediately seemed to make up his mind that she would be sent home.  After a tooth pulling dinner and brief time in the “fantasy” suite, it became more and more evident that Ashley was going home without a further shot of receiving an engagement ring from Brad.

Next week the remaining Chantal and Emily will meet Brad’s family in South Africa and he will choose, which woman he is going to propose to and FINALLY present one of them with a gorgeous diamond engagement ring.  Hopefully he doesn’t get last minute cold feet like the last time because I’m sure more than Chantal will want to slap him on behalf of all the women in America.

The Bachelor – Hometown Dates and One Step Closer to the Engagement Ring!

Courtesy of cominguprosesblog.com

Last night’s episode of The Bachelor, had Brad taking a big step with each of his relationships with the remaining four women.  Brad went to each of their home towns and spent time with each of their families.  Brad saw these four hometown dates as his chance to see each of the women in their natural habitats and help narrow the pool down even further to help him choose the woman who he will present an engagement ring to in the finale.

Brad’s first date had him in Seattle with Chantal O. and her family.  Brad said that he was anxious to see if Chantal would be on the emotional rollercoaster that she had been on with him in Anguilla.  Chantal took Brad to her house, which is right up the street from her family’s mansion, where he met her dog and two cats.  They then headed to her parents where Brad learned he had a great deal in common with her dad.  Neither of them had the best of relationships with their dads, both have experience in masonry and both are entrepreneurs.  Chantal’s family gave both of them support and welcomed Brad into the family if he ended up choosing Chantal as his future bride-to-be, by proposing with a diamond engagement ring.

After leaving Seattle, Brad headed to the opposite end of the country to Ashley’s hometown of Madawaska, Maine.  Since her hometown borders Canada, Ashley introduced Brad to the local dish called poutine, which is French fries with cheese and gravy.  Brad was able to embarrass himself in front of Ashley and all of America by responding to the waitress’s question in French with “si.”  Brad and Ashley then had an impromptu photo shoot in front of the Madawaska sign and then headed to her parents.  After being introduced to her family, it definitely became clear where Ashley gets all of her energy.  Brad seemed unsure about the nature of his relationship with Ashley after talking with her dad, as he emphasized how driven she was at becoming a dentist.  In the end, Brad loved her family and they in turn welcomed him with open arms and pushed for him to give her the engagement ring.

Then came the most bizarre date in The Bachelor history…Brad flew to Chico, California to meet with Shawntel N. and her family. Before meeting her family, Shawntel gave Brad a tour of their funeral home and went into an in depth explanation of the embalming process with him lying on the table.  I was beyond surprised that Brad didn’t run out screaming when she pulled some of her tools out.  Upon meeting Shawntel’s family, Brad seemed immediately at ease until her dad started to lay on the pressure and guilt about the family busy being handed down to her.  In a heart to heart talk with her dad, Shawntel explained that if Brad presented her with the engagement ring that she would be moving to Austin to be with him.

The last date of the night had Brad meeting Emily’s daughter, Ricky, in her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina.  Brad was visibly nervous about meeting Ricky and arrived with a gift for the occasion.  Upon meeting Brad, Ricky became immediately shy and wouldn’t look or talk to him.  After sharing a picnic and opening the butterfly kite that Brad brought for her, Ricky eventually turned around.  Back at the house, the three looked like the perfect family, playing a game of Candyland and putting Ricky to bed.  Upon getting ready to leave, Brad ruined the moment saying that he felt awkward about kissing Emily with her daughter asleep upstairs.  In the end, Emily pulled Brad in for a goodbye kiss and again how much her feelings for him have developed over the course of the show.  In the end, Brad gave roses to Ashley, Emily and Chantal, which sent Shawntel home traveling to South Africa next week and possibly receiving an engagement ring from Brad.

The Bachelor – And Then There Were Four!

Courtesy of www.thehollywoodgossip.com

I have to say that last night of The Bachelor, was one of my favorites of the season so far.  After a quick stop over in Costa Rica, Brad whisked the remaining six women to the romantic Caribbean island of Anguilla.  Upon arriving the women were told that there would be three one on one dates and one group date while on the island.  On last night’s episode, it was clear that Brad has become very focused on finding his future bride-to-be that he connects with the most in order to propose with the coveted diamond engagement ring.  This was a big week, as the remaining four will have Brad meet their families next week.

The first one on one date was given to Emily, who I have to say has been my absolute favorite from the start.  She seems like she is there for the right reasons of finding love again, even though she had previously received an engagement ring from the love of her life who was tragically killed in a plane crash.  Brad surprised Emily with a helicopter ride to their own private island in the middle of the Caribbean ocean.  After a deep heart to heart talk, where Brad explained that he gets so nervous around her and asked if she would want him to meet her daughter, Ricky.  When Emily still seemed hesitant, Brad “broke” the rules of the show and revealed that he had true feelings for her and that he was going to give her a rose at the next rose ceremony no matter what.

For his second one on one date, Brad took Shawntel to explore the island of Anguilla where they were able to experience the culture and people first hand.  Brad expressed how much he loved her confidence, which was evident during a game of dominos with the locals.  Shawntel admitted that she is falling in love with Brad, which is hard for her to say at first because she had only said it to two other men in her life.  The two continued to open up with one another during their romantic dinner which finished with a concert from Anguilla singer, Bankie Banx.  After their one on one date, it definitely seemed like Shawntel was going to stay in the running for the engagement ring.

Brad’s third one on one date was spent with Britt, who had spent the least amount of time with him since the start of the show.  The couple was treated to a luxurious ride on yacht and was brought to a secluded spot called Little Bay for some cliff jumping.  After being extremely scared to take the plunge, Britt eventually jumped into the water.  While sharing some quiet time on the beach together, Brad realized that he didn’t have any romantic feelings for Britt and during dinner decided to send her home.  Although she seemed upset, Britt later admitted to the remaining women back at the villa that she wasn’t feeling it like they were and that she was ok with going home without an engagement ring.

Then came the dreaded group date from hell.  Brad arrived extremely early to wake the women up and bring them down to the beach where they were introduced to the Editor of Sports Illustrated, who informed them that they would be posing for the swimsuit issue which actually hits newsstands today.  After Ashley and Chantal seemed to push the boundaries a little bit with their shoots, Michelle decided to go over the top and asked to do her shoot with Brad which ended up being too steamy for the other two women.  During the pool party, all of the women started to meltdown and expressed their individual concerns to Brad.  Making the date that much worse, Brad pulled Ashley aside for some alone time, then went back to the other two women to get the rose to give to her.  In the end, Brad ended up giving roses to Emily, Shawntel, Chantal and Ashley, which sent Michelle home without a shot at becoming his wife with the proposal of a diamond engagement ring.  It was so great to see Michelle go home, as she continued to create unnecessary drama and wasn’t a good fit for Brad.  With Brad getting to meet the families of the remaining four women next week, will he still have feelings for front runner Emily or will his feelings change?

The Bachelor – So close to an Engagement Ring, the Remaining Six Women Can Almost Taste It!

Courtesy of ABC

Brad sure does know how to show the ladies of this season’s The Bachelor a good time!  Last week he invited them to an action packed few days in Las Vegas and this week he whisked the remaining eight women to the beautiful island of Costa Rica.  Brad really seems to be pulling out all of the stops in his search for finally being able to give out an engagement ring and finding his true bride to be.

This week again had us on the edge of our seats wondering who Brad would choose for the two one-on-one dates.  The first one-on-one date went to Chantal, who seemed over the moon excited after she and Brad seemed to hit a little hiccup in Vegas.  Michelle of course was more than enthusiastic for her and stated that she hoped Chantal was attacked by monkeys.  Although Brad and Chantal were flying through the jungle on the world’s longest zip-line, they were however safe from any animal attacks.  The date continued with an outdoor dinner, but it was quickly interrupted by a downpour of rain that left the only thing for them to do was retreat back to Brad’s room.  Brad had no other choice than to give Chantal a rose after she changed out of her clothes and into one of his dress shirts and stated how crazy she is about him.  As of right now, Chantal definitely seems like a contender against Emily for Brad’s heart AND engagement ring.

Brad took the remaining six women on the group date, which had them repelling down a waterfall.  Michelle of course threw another fit as she and Brad made a promise that the next time they were going to repel down something they would do it together and it only be something for the two of them.  After all of the women make it down the waterfall, it’s off to the hot springs where Brad pulled Jackie aside to tell him how much he appreciated her going down the waterfall even though she had a fear of heights.  Brad also pulled Emily aside for some alone time, where she told him that she has a tendency to sabotage relationships.  Could that be indicated by the engagement ring that she is always seen wearing on her left hand?

Brad then had his one-one-one date with Alli where they explored a 40 million year old cave.  In the end, the small talk conversation at dinner had Brad doubting what his true feelings for Alli were and he sent her packing without a rose.  The cocktail party had all of the women wanting to throw Michelle from a waterfall after she admitted to sneaking off to Brad’s room for some alone time with him.  Brad ended up giving roses to Ashley, Emily, Shawntel, Britt and Michelle and sent Jackie home without any further shot at receiving his engagement ring.  Brad then surprised the remaining six women by telling them that they would be heading to Anguilla.  As the group of women continues to get smaller and smaller, we are left wondering who will win Brad’s heart and his engagement ring proposal.

The Bachelor – Eight Women Remain with an Engagement Ring at Stake

Courtesy of ABC

Last night on The Bachelor, the game drastically took a turn for the remaining 11 women.  The episode began with host, Chris Harrison, stating that everything was going to change as this week there would be a one-on-one date, a group date and the ever dreaded two-on-one date.  All of the women looked devastated as they saw their shot for an engagement ring fading into the sunset.  The women were then flown to Las Vegas, where they met up with Brad and learned that Shawntel, the California funeral director, would be going on the one-on-one date.  For their first date together, Brad pulled out all of the stops taking her on a lavish shopping spree that resulted in many purchases at some of the most high end stores on the strip.  Interesting that he didn’t take her to any jewelry stores to purchase a pair of earrings, a necklace, a bracelet or even a diamond ring?  The date ended with a romantic dinner for the two of them on the roof of the Aria hotel, with Shawntel explaining in gory details what being a funeral director entailed, then an explosion of fireworks for all of Vegas to see.

Then there was the announcement of who would be going on the two-on-one date…close friends since the start of the show – Ashley H. and Ashley S.  Both end up in tears when they realize that not only will they be “competing” against each other, but that one will not continue in the running for Brad’s affection and his diamond engagement ring.  “Let’s go speed dating” was the clue given to the women about their group date.  The eight women are brought to the Vegas NASCAR Racetrack where they will be taking turns making laps around the track.  All attention was shifted to Emily, whose fiancée was NASCAR driver, Ricky Hendrick who died in a 2004 plane crash BUT who also ended his driving career after crashing at the very track that they were at.  Although Emily is probably my favorite on the show, it was hard not to focus on her playing with her left hand ring finger while at the track.  It had me wondering if the pink stone ring was her engagement ring from Ricky?  All of the girls seemed deeply concerned with all of the time that Brad was spending with Emily and voiced their annoyances to him on more than one occasion.

Brad then took the pair of Ashleys to the Cirque de Soleil performance of “Viva Elvis” where they got to meet the cast and learn some of the routines.  Brad was then forced to make a choice as to which Ashley was going to remain with him and perform later that night in the show and which one would then be forced to go home.  In the end, Brad chose Ashley H. to stay, which seemed to have her completely disregard her friendship with Ashley S., as her chance for Brad’s hand in marriage became that much more real.  After Brad had already given Shawntel, Emily and Ashley H. roses, the five remaining roses went to Michelle, Alli, Britt, Jackie and Chantal O.  As only eight women are left and big teasers for the upcoming episodes, we are all left wondering who will be receiving the diamond engagement ring.

Has The Bachelor Already Chosen Who He’s Giving an Engagement Ring To?

Courtesy of anovelmenagerie.com

With another rose ceremony come and gone, Brad Womack seems to be narrowing down the field of lucky ladies vying for his love AND an engagement ring.  This week started off with a bang, or should we say punch, as the ever dramatic, Michelle, woke up with a black eye that she had apparently given herself while sleeping.  Talk about doing just about anything to ensure that she will receive a proposal from Brad.

This week’s theme of the one on one dates was all about the women facing down their fears.  The biggest fear of all the women is to not receive a sparkly diamond engagement ring from Brad, so making them act outside of their comfort zone even more was just for the audience.  Chantal received the first one-on-one date with Brad, as he whisked her away to Catalina by helicopter.  After Chantal overcoming her fear of being underwater, the couple shared a candid dinner together where she opened up about wanting to get married again and then both of them admitting their “true” feelings for one another.

A group date followed, as Brad took the group of ladies to face Dr. Drew at his radio show, Loveline.  The group of women was asked a series of candid questions and then had the opportunity to AGAIN ask Brad if he was serious about giving one of them an engagement ring at the end of the season.  Many tears and dramatic situations ensued at the pool party, where one after another, the women tried to steal Brad away from another contestant.  Brad then shared another one on one date, this time with Michelle who he took to scale a LA building – as she was fearful of heights.  Michelle told Brad over a poolside dinner that he should get rid of all the other women immediately and give her the engagement ring right on the spot.  Talk about ultimatum!  In the end, Brad sent Stacey Queripel, Meghan Merritt and Lindsey Hill home without a rose.  With the pool of women narrowing, it’s becoming easier to see who the front runners to receive the engagement ring are!

Another Rose Ceremony, Another Step Closer to an Engagement Ring for the Bachelor

The weekly rose ceremony has taken place on The Bachelor, sending home three lovely bachelorettes.  Brad chose to send home Sarah Powell of Denver and Kimberly Coon of North Carolina.  Also leaving the show this week was Madison Garton of New York who decided to leave after she realized that she could potentially be taking a rose away from a woman who truly was more deserving and with more riding on a relationship with Brad than she did.

Brad chose two lucky ladies for a one on one date.  Womack first chose Ashley S. to a studio within Capital Records where the two recorded a duet of Seal’s “Kiss From a Rose.”  The pair stumbled through the song, as neither of them can sing, but had a great time getting to know each other during the process.  Womack then surprised the bachelorette with a live private concert from Seal himself, who serenaded them both with the hit song.  After their great date, Brad presented Ashley with a rose, thus getting her one step closer to receiving an engagement ring.

The second one on one date was given to Emily, who Brad gets extremely nervous around.  Womack whisked Emily away to an airport, where they then traveled to a California vineyard.  The couple was able to get much closer after Emily spoke about her past.  She was finally able to tell Brad that she had previously been engaged and that her fiancée was killed in a plane crash right before finding out she was pregnant.  After such an emotional revelation, Brad gave her a rose as well.  This season of The Bachelor seems to have some definite front runners who are all vying for Brad’s eternal love and a stunning engagement ring.

In other related Bachelor news, Dancing with the Stars Pro, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, is going to be the new Bachelor on the Ukraine version of the ABC hit show.  Chmerkovskiy had previously been engaged to Karina Smirnoff, also of Dancing with the Stars fame.  The couple parted ways and the engagement ring was returned.  Will Chmerkovskiy find love in his native country and give another bride to be a gorgeous engagement ring?

The Bachelor – One Step Closing to Finding a Bride

The second episode of The Bachelor aired last night on ABC and again delivered with plenty of drama.  Brad started the evening with a one on one date with Ashley H.  After driving down a dark and deserted road, Brad and Ashley arrived at a magnificently lit carnival for only the two of them.  They seemed to really connect with one another as both revealed painful issues about their fathers.  Of course, Brad ended up giving Ashley the rose.

Then came the group date, which was beyond comical and almost painful to watch at how awkward it became.  Brad took fifteen of the remaining women on a group date to film a PSA for the American Red Cross about the importance of donating blood.  Michelle had her heart sent on making sure the whole group date was about her because it was her 30th birthday; she succeeded as she was able to pull Brad away twice during the event.  It was abundantly clear that none of these people, including Brad, have any talent for acting.  Although the skits resembled bad soap operas, they were able to get the message out about how donating blood is not dramatic, which is ironic because there was plenty of drama happening when the cameras weren’t rolling.

Brad’s third date of the evening was another one on one date.  Brad chose to whisk Jackie away to the Peninsula Hotel and treated her to some spa pampering.  Next he created her own Pretty Woman moment, when he presented her with a suite filled with gorgeous gowns to choose from to wear on their date.  The best part of their date for me was when Brad surprised her with a gorgeous diamond strand necklace, pair of diamond drop earrings and ruffle diamond bracelet, all courtesy of Neil Lane.  I wonder if she was able to keep any of the jewelry?

Back at the mansion, more drama erupted when Michelle again pulled Brad away from the group.  She seemed that she needed to talk to him about something important but ended up asking if he was a Starbucks or Coffee Bean drinker and what he always had stocked in his fridge.  I can’t believe she asked him those were the questions that she HAD to ask Brad!  The other girls seemed beyond annoyed and quickly shifted their attention to the growing feud between Melissa and Rachel.  Former Bachelorette contestants, Ali and Roberto arrived to help Brad decipher who of the women were genuine in being there for him.  In the end, Brad ended up giving a rose to all of the women except Keltie, who he didn’t have time to connect with, and Melissa and Rachel, who were too busy creating drama than getting to know him.  Having eliminated three more contestants, Brad again has us wondering, who will he give the engagement ring to?
