Clues Reveal the Ultimate Prize: A Ritani Diamond Engagement Ring!

Courtesy of Alexa McMahon for Boston.com

Even the potential threat of rain couldn’t keep the masses away on Saturday for the second annual Long’s Diamond Dash.  Hundreds of couples descended on Boston Common in the hopes of winning a $20,000 Ritani diamond engagement ring.  Set up as a text message based scavenger hunt, couples received clues on their cell phones that helped them accumulate points after deciphering riddles at various locations throughout the city.

A sea of blue Diamond Dash shirts flooded the city as couples dashed from location to location.  At the end of the two hour scavenger hunt, all of the participants descended upon the after party venue, which was held at the Liquor Store.  There contestants were able to kick back and relax while anxiously awaiting the announcement of the winner.  Helping to calm their nerves was the Ritani-tini, a specialty cocktail created from the event.  Then came the announcement that everyone had been waiting for…who had accumulated the most points throughout the hunt would claim the ultimate prize – a diamond engagement ring.  The winning couple was David Greco and Shanda Shooter, who had met while attending Suffolk Law School.  Although Shooter immediately put the diamond ring on her finger, Greco knelt down and proposed in front of the crowd.  Congratulations to the happy couple!

Choosing the Right Wedding Photographer

You have the engagement ring, let the wedding planning begin!  There are millions of facets that going into perfect the ideal wedding, after finding the ideal spouse of course!  When planning a wedding every detail needs to be accounted for in order to ensure that you can truly create an affair to remember.  Although most people focus on choosing the perfect dress, the most beautiful flowers, the quintessential music that is going to get everyone up and dancing.  While all of these aspects can guarantee a beautiful and fun wedding, it is also important to focus on the elements of the wedding that will last forever.  One such element is choosing the right pair of wedding bands for each partner.  Where this is the one piece of jewelry that both the bride and groom will wear for the rest of their lives, a lot of attention should be given to choosing which wedding band style each person likes the best.

Another important element that will guarantee a great wedding is the perfect wedding photographer.  Days, months and years after the last glass of champagne has been poured at the wedding reception, the photos of that day will help capture what a truly special day it was.  Each photographer has their own style of shooting, whether it is a photojournalistic approach, the traditional formal approach or an artistic approach.  Make sure when choosing your photographer that you like the style in which they shoot.  One photographer who is great at capturing all of life’s real moments is Amanda Basteen of Des Moines, Iowa.  Amanda passion and talent is evident in every piece of her work, which is mostly wedding and portrait photography.  Her work can be seen in the September issue of Marie Claire Magazine, with her photograph of Tessa and Nicholas serving as the Ritani Real Moments advertisement.  Be sure to visit Amanda’s website for more information about her style and to view all of her gorgeous photo collections.

While the coming of Fall brings cozy sweaters and the changing of leaves, it also brings with it one of the most popular seasons for couples to get engaged.  Bridal publications that come out in the Fall tend to cram as much information they can into the book that would be needed when deciding on the perfect engagement ring while also helping to plan the dream wedding for any couple.  One such publication is Engagement 101, which gives a great overview of popular jewelry and fashion trends that serve as a guide in deciding what works best for your personal style.  The Fall/Winter 2011 issue focuses on celebrity trends that have shaped the jewelry industry in particular when choosing an engagement ring.  One such trend this year is the popular sapphire diamond engagement ring, made popular by Kate Middelton.  Ritani features a beautiful three stone diamond and sapphire engagement ring.  Another trend that has become popular brings us back to basics with choosing a round centerstone as the focal point of the ring.  Actress Zoe Saldana sports a solitaire engagement ring that compliments her classic style.  The Ritani features a micropavé half bezel round cut centerstone engagement ring.

Shannen Doherty to Get Married on TV

In Hollywood, it’s never too late for a comeback and what better way to introduce yourself to fans than through a reality show?!  Shannen Doherty seems to be taking notes from her former Beverly Hills, 90201 cast mate, Tori Spelling, and has signed on to her own reality show that will document her life leading up to her wedding.  Doherty and her fiancé, celebrity photographer Kurt Iswarienko, will exchange wedding bands and their vows in the last episode of the first season.  The intention of the WEtv show is to showcase Shannen in a whole new light as she renovates her Malibu home and plans her wedding.  Everything from cake tastings, meetings with the florist and wedding band shopping are all going to be broadcast to viewers.  Although Isawirneko presented his bride-to-be with a diamond engagement ring, this isn’t Doherty’s first trip down the aisle.  The actress had previously worn an engagement ring from Dean Factor until he called off their engagement.  She wore a wedding band from actor, Ashley Hamilton, for five months until she filed for divorce in 1994.  On her last trip down the aisle, the actress exchanged wedding bands with Rick Salomon, but their marriage was annulled after only nine months.  Here’s hoping that the fourth time down the aisle will be the charm for Doherty, especially where her wedding is going to be played out for millions to see.

Vanessa and Nick beat his Ex Down the Aisle

Wedding bells were ringing over the weekend for Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minillo. Instead of sending out the traditional wedding invitation, the couple presented 35 of their closest friends and family with an airplane ticket, told them that they were going on a vacation and to pack for island attire.  Lachey then exchanged vows and wedding bands with his bride-to-be on a Caribbean island.  Minillo chose a two piece Monique Lhullier lace corset that she paired with a silk faille skirt.  Lachey donned a Dolce & Gabanna suit.  The pair had been engaged since November when Lachey presented Minillo with a 4.5 carat diamond engagement ring.

Lachey had previously exchanged wedding bands with ex-wife, Jessica Simpson, who is set to walk down the aisle with fiancé, Eric Johnson.  Simpson announced that she had been presented with a diamond engagement ring from Johnson shortly after Lachey and Minillo announced their engagement.  No word yet on which date they have chosen to exchange wedding bands but it has all of us wondering…will they plan a destination wedding as well?  Lachey and Minillo’s wedding will air on the TLC special, Nick and Vanessa’s Dream Wedding, which will premiere on Friday July 30th from 9pm-11pm EST.

The Bachelorette Chooses Her Final Four

Courtesy of abc.com

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a whole two weeks since the last episode of The Bachelorette.  Last night, we picked up again in Asia with the remaining six guys vying to make it to the final rose ceremony.  The night started off with Ashley presenting the first one-on-one date to Constantine.  The pair quickly took off on a steam engine to the remote village of Ping Shi, where they took part in the traditional lantern festival.  The couple painted imagery on their lantern of things they were both hoping for in their relationship.  It was a pretty big step for the rather reserved Constantine to paint an engagement ring and children on the lantern with Ashley.  After a romantic dinner, the couple then released their lantern into the sky with the rest of the village.

Ashley then gave another one-on-one date to Constantine’s twin, Ben.  She and Ben stayed close to each other as they went for a scooter ride through Taroko National Park.  While on her date with Ben, Ashley admitted that she considered him to be her boyfriend, as was evident with the make out session on the suspension bridge.  The pair then caused quite the controversy when Ben returned back to the hotel first thing in the morning to a very angry J.P., whose jealousy really shone through.  Then came the worst group date in all of The Bachelorette history!  Ashley took the insanely jealous J.P., Lucas and Ames to take mock wedding photos.  Seriously, she doesn’t even have the engagement ring and she’s making them take wedding photos?  This sent J.P. over the edge completely and his only consolation was getting the group date rose from Ashley.

After J.P.’s temper tantrum, Ashley chose Ryan for the night’s last one-on-one date.  The pair started off by reflecting on people praying to different gods in the temple and after discussing the practice of people doing Tai Chi, Ryan launched into what seemed like a business pitch.  This put Ashley over the edge and she told him that it wasn’t working out and walked away leaving him with just the camera crew.  Forgoing the cocktail party for the second time this season to cut right to the rose ceremony, Ashley then sent Lucas packing and leaving Constantine, Ben, J.P. and Ames still in the running for the final rose and a chance to propose with a diamond engagement ring.

Also on last night’s episode was the heart wrenching interview with Chris Harrison and former Bachelor winner, Emily Maynard.  The single mom was presented with a diamond engagement ring from Bachelor Brad at the final rose ceremony but after the season ended the couple found themselves at the center of every tabloid story around.  The pressure seemed to be too much for the couple, and although they both admittedly still love and care for each other they have no plans of exchanging wedding bands anytime soon.  Maybe Bentley will get his wish and have Emily be the next Bachelorette.

Kim Kardashian Has Finally Found Her Prince Charming AND Her Perfect Engagement Ring

Courtesy of People.com

Over the years, Kim Kardashian has not been shy about admitting how much she wanted to be married with children.  Well Kim’s sisters were sure to do both before their sister.  Older sister Kourtney, had son Mason, with boyfriend Scott Disick and younger sister Khloe, married LA Laker forward, Lamar Odom after dating for only a short time.  Everyone, including Kim herself, thought that she would be wearing an engagement ring from longtime boyfriend, Reggie Bush, but the couple called it quits last year after dating for a number of years.  The E! reality star and mogul had briefly been married at age 19, when she ran off to Vegas and exchanged wedding bands and vows with music produces Damon Thomas.  After only a few years of being married, the couple called it quits and later divorced.

After her breakup from Bush, Kim moved to New York to focus on herself and help launch DASH Soho with sister Kourtney.  Upon moving to NY, Kardashian found herself at the center of swirling rumors that connected the reality star to everyone from Kanye West to Halle Berry’s ex, Gabriel Aubry.  Although she was seen out on the town having a great time at various NYC hotspots and enjoying her singlehood, Kardashian gave into her penchant for dating athletes and found herself cozy with NJ Nets forward, Kris Humphries.  After dating for only six months, Humphries decided that it was time to take Kardashian officially off the market with a surprise proposal last week at her Beverly Hills home.  Humphries had written “Will You Marry Me?” in red rose petals and was waiting on bended knee when she walked into her bedroom.  In complete surprise, Humphries then presented his bride-to-be with a 20.5 carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond engagement ring.  Keeping the celebrating going, Humphries had secretly planned a small celebration with Kardashian matriarch, Kris, so that they could share the news with Kim’s close family.  Although they have no wedding plans set yet, mom Kris is probably already hard at work to make the day an event to remember.  With such an over-the-top engagement ring, how are they going to find a wedding band to match?

Will Cupid’s Arrow Finally Strike The Bachelorette?

Courtesy of the HollywoodGossip.com

After being one of the final three vying for Brad’s heart on last season’s The Bachelor, Ashley Hebert found herself leaving South Africa without an engagement ring or proposal from Womack.  Having put her insecurities aside, she then decided to give looking for love another try as we saw on last night’s season premier of The Bachelorette.  With a new look and a new attitude, Hebert waited for the arrival of her 25 suitors.  Before waiting outside the mansion for her potential princes to arrive, Hebert expressed concern that not all of the contestants were there for the right reasons, explaining that a contestant from last season who she was close with in the house warned her about single dad, Bentley, who was supposedly there to promote his own business and not interested in finding love.  Limo after limo arrived with every type of gentleman suitor, all fighting to win the attention and affection of Hebert.

Things quickly headed in the direction of a college frat party, as the drinks started flowing and each man tried to one up the others by trying to get Ashley’s attention during each quick meeting.  In true frat party fashion, the night quickly ended for shy contestant Tim, who passed out after having too much to drink and challenging mask wearing, Jeff to a fight.  Ashley decided to give Ryan P. the first impression rose of the season and sent another seven contestants packing, including Anthony, the pseudo suave butcher from NJ.  Bentley has already deemed himself this season’s villain, explaining to the cameras that he would have preferred that Emily be The Bachelorette and that he’s on the show to win and will do anything it takes, including playing up how much he missed his daughter back home.  Of the remaining eighteen men, will Ashley follow in the footsteps of past Bachelorettes, and receive an engagement ring proposal at the end of the season or will she take after Brad and have to try numerous seasons of the show to find true love?  Speaking of Brad, it is being reported that his troubled relationship with Emily is officially over and that she has been spotted out and about without his engagement ring.  Could it be that their fairytale romance is truly over or was this merely a publicity stunt to hype up the seventh season of The Bachelorette?
