Ritani: Named as One of Top 10 Best Color Engagement Rings 2011

This year one of the most popular trends of engagement rings was the use of colored stones instead of the traditional diamond engagement ring.  This style was of course made popular when Prince William presented his bride-to-be, Kate Middleton, with his mother’s sapphire and diamond engagement ring.  When looking for the perfect color engagement rings, look no further than Ritani.  Thanks to the voters of Engagement 101’s Best Color Engagement Rings 2011, Ritani was named as one of the Top 10 color engagement ring designers.  The Ritani ring that was chosen was a three stone, diamond and sapphire ring from the Endless Love Collection.  Why choose one sapphire when you can have two?!

Got the girl; Get the ring!

Calling all guys, have you found her? Your dream girl? The one you don’t ever want to let go? Have you started planning that special day when you “pop the question?” It’s kind of nerve wracking isn’t it, with all the pressure of getting her that perfect ring. Well, problem solved - here are some tips to help you along the way.

No need to break your bank.

Know your budget, Ritani has rings that will match your budget, while satisfying your girlfriend’s style. A promise of exceptional craftsmanship that will show your everlasting love and devotion.

Guys, do the research. No girl wants to open up that pretty little velvet box and find a ring that doesn’t fit her personality.

Call her best friend, or your “future Mother in law” and ask for some tips!

Know her ring size. If you don’t – no sweat! Go in her jewelry box and borrow a ring (no thumb rings). Bring it to a jeweler and ask them to size it for you.  If you are not comfortable with that, get her best friend to go undercover and find out for you.

Narrow down her style; Is she classic, modern, glamorous, or a romantic? Ritani has a collection for everyone.

For your Modern girl – Check out Modern Engagement Rings;

Pre-Engagement Ring Season… Guy’s, Do You Know What you are Looking For?

Fall is coming up on us and guys who are planning that holiday engagement are doing their homework and trying to figure out what the various engagement rings there are to consider. Or at least they should be thinking about it right now.

Getting her the ring she really wants

Getting her the ring she really wants

This is one of the most popular times during the year to be making that engagement ring purchase so, guys, be sure that you work quickly, thoroughly and covertly as you attempt to get all of the information needed regarding the engagement ring that your girlfriend wants. Remember, due to the fact that so many people will be purchasing engagement rings during this time of the year it is important that you get your orders in pronto! You don’t want to be running up against a time snag as the big moment arrives right? I mean you have enough on your plate working out the proposal strategy. Get the ring early and hide it away. Don’t procrastinate and wait until the last minute; too much can go wrong.

Here are some tips that should help:

  1. Find her ring size. Don’t dilly dally! Ask a friend for hers. If you have access to her jewelry box or if you can get a hold of a ring that you know she wears on her left hand put it on your pinkie and mark wear it stops. Remember that if you make it a little bigger it can always be re-sized down. Your best bet will be talking to someone who knows her well enough and who also won’t spill the beans
  2. Decide on a budget. Industry people seem to think that the ring should cost you two months of salary. The bottom line is spend what you are comfortable spending after all you know what she is worth to you.
  3. Find a jewelry store. Ask married a friend where he or she went to get their rings. Get a good referral. If you know that she prefers a specific designer then go to that designers website and look up local retailers through their store locator. If you know that she likes RITANI you can find a store at ritani.com.
  4. Choose a stone. Buy her a diamond. Keep in mind the four C’s: Cut, Clarity, Color, Carat. You will want to consider all of this but paying careful attention to the Cutsince this will be the first distinguishing characteristic that she will notice when you give it her. Find out what shape she most prefers. Again consult a friend or a family member. The next obvious characteristic is Carat. Determine how large the stone will be. Cost will have something to say about how many carats you go with so again feel it out. You know how much she is worth to you and be sure you get something that you will be proud to give her. Diamonds typically start at 0.5ct for $1,500 up to 3.0ct for $22,000. After Carat you will want to decide on Color. You want a diamond that is as colorless as possible. The closer it is to colorless the more valuable to becomes. The cost color scale starts at “D” for colorless and goes on up all the way to “Z”. The average diamond for cost efficiency vs color falls somewhere in the G – J range. Again as was mentioned you need to figure all the cost together and determine what she is worth to you. The last thing to remember about the diamond before you buy it is Clarity. Similar to color this refers to how easily you can see any imperfections in the diamonds, be they on the surface (“blemishes”) or inside the diamond (“inclusions”). Why does it matter? Because fewer flaws = more light reflected = more sparkle. And we all want the sparkliest diamond we can get. The scale for considering clarity goes like this: flawless, internally flawless, VVS1, VVS2, VS1, VS2, SI1, SI2, I1, I2, I3. Flawless diamonds mean that you can’t see any imperfections under 10X magnification, and I3 diamonds are ones where Mr. Magoo would see the imperfections. So what does this mean? It means that when you go to the jeweler and ask about a diamond and (s)he tells you its clarity grade, you’ll know what you’re getting. Now here’s the most important thing to know: unless you’re an oil tycoon or want to blow a lot of cash, get a VS or SI diamond. While technically imperfect, you cannot tell these diamonds are flawed unless you look at them under a microscope. In fact, we bet that if you looked at a SI2 and VVS1 next to each other after they’d been set in a ring, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. All that matters is that you think it’s pretty.
  5. Choose the setting and the band. Now all that’s left is to decide on the setting and the band. Fortunately, this is much easier than picking out a diamond. Just go with what you think is pretty and what you think she’d like. This is when having one of her friends with you could be particularly handy; she might know her ring style. Visit RITANI.com to see many of todays hottest settings and wedding bands.

Once you have these elements taken care you’ll want to first find the one you like, then see how scary the price tag is, then bargain the jeweler down to a price you can afford (remembering that your first offer should be less than you’re willing to spend, so that you can still afford the final offer), then propose to your sweetie!

Remember you will most likely only do this once in you life so as best you can try to fun with it. Afterward you can always bring it back to the jeweler for changes and modifications. Good Luck

Shopping for Your OWN Engagement Ring!

Classic Collection by RITANI

Classic Collection by RITANI

Kim Kardashian says she’s just saving time and stress -  by shopping for her OWN engagement ring.  “It’s just easier,” Kardashian says.  She has filled her sisters in on what she has in mind for her fiancee-to-be, Reggie Bush, to give to her when he pops the question.  This has been a growing trend, and a lifesaver, for today’s pre-engaged man struggling to find the perfect ring for his love.

If you think your man might be dropping the hint that you’ll be getting engaged, you start to go through the details of the proposal.  You want the event to be perfect, from the place it occurs to the engagement ring.  Like most women, I would love to think that my man knows me well enough to choose an engagement ring for me.  Realistically, that may not be the case.  An engagement ring is something you will have forever, and should be reflective of the woman who wears it.  Trying to make this experience as pleasant as possible should be the goal, so both of you are focused on what matters, your future together.

How does this happen without spoiling the spontaneity and romance?  If you know that the two of you are on the road to marriage then he won’t worry about you saying “No”, he’ll just want you to say “WOW!”  One way for him to see you respond this way is for him to really consider your taste in jewelry.  What style of enagement ring will make you melt and fall in love all over again?  This is a very big decision, and one you won’t want him to make on a whim.  A great way he can get some help, if you’re not sure if he has any clue about your style, is if he talks to someone close to you.  Maybe your mom, sister, or best friend can help steer him in the right direction.  A fool-proof way to make sure he isn’t being led astray is to drop some hints of your own to the people he may enlist for help.

Start doing a little window shopping or web surfing to see the various styles and diamond cuts that are out there.  With so many to choose from it may be little overwhelming, just think how your fiancee-to-be feels like.  I have found that selecting a few options and getting some feedback from trusted friends and family can help you to narrow it down.

RITANI, an innovative designer in bridal jewelry, has created a way for you to compile your choices of their products into a poll.  This is incredibly useful and easy to send by email to get quick responses which can help in your pursuit of the perfect engagement ring.  Try this out and I think you will be assured a great selection, and your man will appreciate your help without knowing you did anything at all.

Engagement Ring Ideas….Something Old, Something New….

There’s that old rhyme that even a lot of modern day brides still adhere to on their wedding day…“something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.”  But what about before she walks down the aisle?  Take a look below at how this popular saying can help you select the perfect engagement ring.

Something Old: Have you ever considered purchasing an antique engagement ring or an estate piece?  There is something about a vintage ring that exudes romance.  The delicate designs, the lacy filigree work and old world charm tell a love story from a bygone era.  Scour antique stores, estate sales and even online market places that may specialize in this sort of thing.

Something New: OK, what if your intended is not the frilly girly- girl type?  She may be happier with a modern looking ring.  The sleek lines of a bezel set ring, or the geometric angles of a more modern ring might appeal to her.  This type of design is also good if your girlfriend has a job where she works with her hands, and complements a sporty look and personality.  Bonus: sturdy modern designs are especially great if she is hard on her jewelry.

Something borrowed: So maybe you and your significant other have already ring shopped and you have not seen anything that is exactly to your liking.  Maybe you have seen a particular prong style you liked on one ring, and a shank you liked on another.  Many jewelry boutiques have taken this very situation into account and will make you a custom one-of –a- kind ring.  Feel free to “borrow” different design elements from other rings you may have liked and incorporate them into your dream ring.

Something Blue: Don’t forget, there is no steadfast rule that an engagement ring must be a diamond.  An engagement ring is any ring that is given with the intention that a marriage will soon follow.  Blue sapphires have long been a popular choice for engagement rings due to their durability and beautiful color.  You can purchase a sapphire solitaire, or choose a ring that features a sapphire at the main attraction with diamond accents.

Why Should you Choose a Diamond Engagement Ring?

Back in the day, most engagement rings were made of non-diamond material.  Other precious stones, such as sapphires, emeralds and rubies were very popular choices.  While those gemstones are beautiful and colorful, diamonds remain the constant popular and most beloved stone to be the centerpiece of an engagement rings.  So why should you buy a diamond engagement ring?

1. Diamonds are the hardest natural substance. They are a 10 on the Mohs scale of hardness.  (the scale that is used to measure the relative hardness of gemstones.)  Sapphires rank at a 9 on the Mohs scale, and while they are considered a durable and wearable stone as well, the difference in hardness between a 9 and a 10 is actually tenfold!  For a ring that will be worn on a daily basis, you want the most durable stone that money can buy.
2. They reflect a TON of light. While colored gemstones can be faceted like diamonds, the deep color prevents the flash and dispersion of light that a diamond can produce.  You want to buy a ring that will be noticed from across a crowded room.
3. They are available at many different price points. Think you can’t afford to buy a diamond?  Think again.  Since diamonds are graded on a scale according to the 4 Cs, there are a lot of factors that can affect the cost of a particular diamond.  Most diamond and bridal retailers will offer tutorials on how to get the most bang for your buck.  So take a little bit of time to do some research before you buy—you may be surprised to learn what you can afford.
4. They are available in many different shapes. When most people think of diamonds, they probably picture a round brilliant.  While that may be the most popular shape for a diamond by far, keep in mind that diamonds can be cut into almost any shape imaginable.  Princess, oval, marquise, pear and emerald are just a few that may be interesting to look at if you do not want your engagement ring to look like everyone else’s.

As you can see, there are many great reasons to purchase a diamond engagement ring.  The most important thing is to do you research, shop around and have a great time picking out an engagement ring.  This is a memorable purchase, so make sure you are armed with the facts to make your experience as rewarding as possible.  Good luck!
