The SAG Awards – Red Carpet Stunners

Courtesy of Getty Images

The third major award show of the season took place last night, bringing out celebrities in droves to honor the incredible bodies of work nominated this year at the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards.  The SAG Awards celebrate the actors and their body of work, as voted by the actors and their industry peers.  Similar to the Golden Globes, the SAG Awards showcase a relaxed and fun atmosphere, with the casts of the nominated films and TV shows sitting together and exuding feeling of pure enjoyment while having a great time during the broadcast.  This year’s SAG Awards showcased head turning fashions that focused on bright and bold colors and fashions.

One of my favorite looks of the evening went to Black Swan Supporting Actress, Mila Kunis, who wore a vibrant Alexander McQueen red patterned gown.  Kunis released her inner tigress by pairing her gorgeous frock with a Cartier Tiger Cuff Bracelet.  Claire Danes, who won for Best Actress in a TV Movie or Miniseries, wore a Louis Vuitton gown that featured hand stitched silk floral appliqués.  Danes paired her flowery gown with a pair of Fred Leighton 11-carat diamond drop earrings and an antique Fred Leighton bracelet.  The always stunning, Kim Kardashian didn’t disappoint when she showed up wearing a jewel encrusted purple Marchesa gown.  The entrepreneur and reality star paired her regal look with a jaw dropping pair of 40-carat platinum and diamond drop Lorraine Schwartz earrings and Lorraine Schwartz platinum, ruby, white and grey diamond cocktail ring.

Although many of the red carpet looks focused on daring colors and designs, the ever popular color black was also seen on many celebrities.  Nicole Kidman, who was a Best Actress Nominee, wore a black lace Nina Ricci gown but was able to add a burst of color with her Fred Leighton diamond and enamel floral necklace.  The ever-stunning Mad Men star, Christina Hendricks, chose a black sequined L’Wren Scott wrap dress and finished her look with a dramatic pair of Sutra drop earrings.  Although she has become known for pushing the boundaries of fashion when it comes to award shows, Kyra Sedgwick played it safe with a form fitting Thierry Mugler gown and pair of Cartier 3.5-carat diamond drop earrings.  With the Grammys and Oscars just weeks away, we cannot wait to see what the stars will be seen wearing next!

Has The Bachelor Already Chosen Who He’s Giving an Engagement Ring To?

Courtesy of anovelmenagerie.com

With another rose ceremony come and gone, Brad Womack seems to be narrowing down the field of lucky ladies vying for his love AND an engagement ring.  This week started off with a bang, or should we say punch, as the ever dramatic, Michelle, woke up with a black eye that she had apparently given herself while sleeping.  Talk about doing just about anything to ensure that she will receive a proposal from Brad.

This week’s theme of the one on one dates was all about the women facing down their fears.  The biggest fear of all the women is to not receive a sparkly diamond engagement ring from Brad, so making them act outside of their comfort zone even more was just for the audience.  Chantal received the first one-on-one date with Brad, as he whisked her away to Catalina by helicopter.  After Chantal overcoming her fear of being underwater, the couple shared a candid dinner together where she opened up about wanting to get married again and then both of them admitting their “true” feelings for one another.

A group date followed, as Brad took the group of ladies to face Dr. Drew at his radio show, Loveline.  The group of women was asked a series of candid questions and then had the opportunity to AGAIN ask Brad if he was serious about giving one of them an engagement ring at the end of the season.  Many tears and dramatic situations ensued at the pool party, where one after another, the women tried to steal Brad away from another contestant.  Brad then shared another one on one date, this time with Michelle who he took to scale a LA building – as she was fearful of heights.  Michelle told Brad over a poolside dinner that he should get rid of all the other women immediately and give her the engagement ring right on the spot.  Talk about ultimatum!  In the end, Brad sent Stacey Queripel, Meghan Merritt and Lindsey Hill home without a rose.  With the pool of women narrowing, it’s becoming easier to see who the front runners to receive the engagement ring are!

There are very few things that a girl can live without.  Jewelry and shoes are definitely at the top of that list.  When looking to update her wardrobe, a great pair of shoes or a pair of diamond stud earrings is great to help her spruce things up.  With the launch of Manolo Blahnik’s new jewelry line in March, every budding fashionista’s prayers have been answered.

Manolo Blahnik sky rocketed to fame as one of the leading shoe designers throughout the world.  With the help of Carrie Bradshaw and her “Sex and the City” girlfriends, demand for his shoes soared through the roof.  His most famous pair of shoes is the Campari style done in the Mary Jane design.  The shoe designer decided to launch his jewelry collection, upon meeting Rosa Tous in Madrid last year.  Tous is famous for creating gorgeous bracelets, earrings and necklaces that showcase unique charm pendants.

The pair has created a charm pendant necklace, which will feature the trademark Campari style shoe accented with a diamond button and hanging from a gold chain.  This collaboration showcases a great blend of classic style merging with trendsetting designs.  Now every girl can own her very own Manolo Blahnik shoe…she will be wearing it as a fashion forward pendant necklace!

Another Rose Ceremony, Another Step Closer to an Engagement Ring for the Bachelor

The weekly rose ceremony has taken place on The Bachelor, sending home three lovely bachelorettes.  Brad chose to send home Sarah Powell of Denver and Kimberly Coon of North Carolina.  Also leaving the show this week was Madison Garton of New York who decided to leave after she realized that she could potentially be taking a rose away from a woman who truly was more deserving and with more riding on a relationship with Brad than she did.

Brad chose two lucky ladies for a one on one date.  Womack first chose Ashley S. to a studio within Capital Records where the two recorded a duet of Seal’s “Kiss From a Rose.”  The pair stumbled through the song, as neither of them can sing, but had a great time getting to know each other during the process.  Womack then surprised the bachelorette with a live private concert from Seal himself, who serenaded them both with the hit song.  After their great date, Brad presented Ashley with a rose, thus getting her one step closer to receiving an engagement ring.

The second one on one date was given to Emily, who Brad gets extremely nervous around.  Womack whisked Emily away to an airport, where they then traveled to a California vineyard.  The couple was able to get much closer after Emily spoke about her past.  She was finally able to tell Brad that she had previously been engaged and that her fiancée was killed in a plane crash right before finding out she was pregnant.  After such an emotional revelation, Brad gave her a rose as well.  This season of The Bachelor seems to have some definite front runners who are all vying for Brad’s eternal love and a stunning engagement ring.

In other related Bachelor news, Dancing with the Stars Pro, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, is going to be the new Bachelor on the Ukraine version of the ABC hit show.  Chmerkovskiy had previously been engaged to Karina Smirnoff, also of Dancing with the Stars fame.  The couple parted ways and the engagement ring was returned.  Will Chmerkovskiy find love in his native country and give another bride to be a gorgeous engagement ring?

Kick Off to Award Season – Show us the Bling!

Courtesy of justjared.buzznet.com

This weekend played host to two of the first awards shows of 2011 – The Critic’s Choice Awards and the Golden Globes.  The Critic’s Choice Awards celebrate the actors and their body of work, as voted by the industries critics.  I have to say, there is no greater award show than the Golden Globes.  The atmosphere is fun with all of the celebrities sitting and drinking within a more relaxed and laid back setting.  In addition, the Golden Globes also give the audience a look at the celebrities and all of their fabulous fashions.  This year’s Golden Globes definitely delivered with a melting pot of over the top designs that have set the trends for 2011.  This year’s trends seem to be focused all on glamour.

With every award show, you can always be guaranteed to see the color black, as it conveys a dramatic and sophisticated feel.  Black was seen as a favorite on many of the stars that worked the red carpet for this year’s Golden Globes.  Halle Berry chose a dramatic corseted Nina Ricci mini dress with sheer overlay to show off her amazing figure.  Berry paired her simple yet stunning dress with a stack of Harry Winston bracelets, which represented both lattice and floral designs on each arm.  Eva Longoria was another celebrity who went the route of black for the awards, wearing a dramatically plunging Zac Posen dress with cut-out back.  Paired with her dramatic dress was a pair of Neil Lane brooches and Neil Lane diamond stud earrings.  The soon to be on the market star was definitely looking to make a statement.

One of the other big trends from the red carpet was seen with the color green.  The bold color was chosen by a few stars, who were definitely able to make others green with envy.  Ever the trend-setter, Angelina Jolie chose a long sleeved Atelier Versace gown for the show.  Although the dress sparkled from head to toe, Jolie paired the dress with a dramatic pair of Robert Procop emerald earrings and a Robert Procop cocktail ring.  Although she was there to support her nominee husband, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones stood out with her forest green Monique Lhuillier ballgown.  Paired with her gorgeous dress, was a striking pair of Van Cleef & Arpels Eliza diamond chandelier earrings, which weigh an impressive total of 26.8 carats and a Van Cleef & Arpels 7.2 carat diamond ring.  With so many celebrities looking gorgeous and exuding their individual styles this award season, it’s hard not to get excited about what’s to come!

The Bachelor – One Step Closing to Finding a Bride

The second episode of The Bachelor aired last night on ABC and again delivered with plenty of drama.  Brad started the evening with a one on one date with Ashley H.  After driving down a dark and deserted road, Brad and Ashley arrived at a magnificently lit carnival for only the two of them.  They seemed to really connect with one another as both revealed painful issues about their fathers.  Of course, Brad ended up giving Ashley the rose.

Then came the group date, which was beyond comical and almost painful to watch at how awkward it became.  Brad took fifteen of the remaining women on a group date to film a PSA for the American Red Cross about the importance of donating blood.  Michelle had her heart sent on making sure the whole group date was about her because it was her 30th birthday; she succeeded as she was able to pull Brad away twice during the event.  It was abundantly clear that none of these people, including Brad, have any talent for acting.  Although the skits resembled bad soap operas, they were able to get the message out about how donating blood is not dramatic, which is ironic because there was plenty of drama happening when the cameras weren’t rolling.

Brad’s third date of the evening was another one on one date.  Brad chose to whisk Jackie away to the Peninsula Hotel and treated her to some spa pampering.  Next he created her own Pretty Woman moment, when he presented her with a suite filled with gorgeous gowns to choose from to wear on their date.  The best part of their date for me was when Brad surprised her with a gorgeous diamond strand necklace, pair of diamond drop earrings and ruffle diamond bracelet, all courtesy of Neil Lane.  I wonder if she was able to keep any of the jewelry?

Back at the mansion, more drama erupted when Michelle again pulled Brad away from the group.  She seemed that she needed to talk to him about something important but ended up asking if he was a Starbucks or Coffee Bean drinker and what he always had stocked in his fridge.  I can’t believe she asked him those were the questions that she HAD to ask Brad!  The other girls seemed beyond annoyed and quickly shifted their attention to the growing feud between Melissa and Rachel.  Former Bachelorette contestants, Ali and Roberto arrived to help Brad decipher who of the women were genuine in being there for him.  In the end, Brad ended up giving a rose to all of the women except Keltie, who he didn’t have time to connect with, and Melissa and Rachel, who were too busy creating drama than getting to know him.  Having eliminated three more contestants, Brad again has us wondering, who will he give the engagement ring to?

Snooki Launches a Jewelry Line – Fist Pumping All the Way to the Bank

Courtesy of Examiner.com

With a heightened fascination of all things associated with reality TV, a new batch of celebrities is growing every day.  Gone are the days of people signing up for a reality TV show because the concept seems fun or it will serve as a break from their day to day lives.  Most people who are signing up for a reality TV show have the sole intention of becoming an overnight sensation and using their new found fame for pushing their personal agendas.  Nobody has capitalized on using stardom to promote their own businesses more than the women of the Bravo TV “Real Housewives” franchise.  Jewelry plays a large role on these shows, as all of the women try to outspend and out sparkle the other; creating their own jewelry line has become even bigger business.

Ramona Singer of the “Real Housewives of New York” was one of the first women to launch her own businesses and promote them on the show.  Singer has two jewelry collections; the True Faith Collection features a series of religious pendants, rosaries, patron saint medals and chain necklaces.  Her HSN Ramona Singer Jewelry collection features rings, earrings, pendants and bracelets that are inspired for her love of the Art Deco style and Estate Jewelry.  Singer’s pieces are affordable and accessible so that every woman can wear a timeless piece of Estate Jewelry and feel like a NY Housewife.  We can’t wait to see what business venture Ramona will tackle next when the show premiers in February.

Also looking to capitalize on her five minutes of fame as much as possible is the “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star, Danielle Staub.  After trying to launch a career in the music industry, it seems that Staub has gone the way of jewelry designer as well.  Staub has announced that she is partnering with the NYC based jewelry house of Versani as the primary collaborator on her line.  Her collection is based on “cross inspired” pieces, as they carry both religious and personal meanings to everyone.  The necklaces and bracelets will be featured on leather or rope, which will diversify the pieces from other jewelry lines out there.  Staub hopes to eventually expand her collection to include rings but has no plans of including earrings in the line.

And then there is the MTV cultural phenomenon known as, “Jersey Shore.”  The season three premiere aired last Thursday night in conjunction with most of the cast mates publicly promoting their side projects as well.  Not to be outdone by any of her fist pumping roommates, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi has started promoting herself and the pint sized empire that she is busy creating.  Her book entitled “A Shore Thing,” has recently hit bookshelves causing many guidos and guidettes to line up for a copy and possible sighting of the starlette at a book signing.  Going the way of the Real Housewives franchise, Snooki has paired with the jewelry company, Diamond Shark, to create her own jewelry line.  The first piece of the collection is called the Party Ball 2011 Limited Edition Pendant, which is the same necklace that she wore when dropping with the ball on New Year’s Eve is Seaside Heights, NJ.  The circular pendant features 21 created pink sapphires with Snooki’s embossed signature logo on the back.  Not quite sure if the best way to ring in the New Year is with a piece of Jersey Shore Jewelry!

2011 – A New Year Filled with Celebrity Weddings

With the many celebrity engagements that happened over the holidays, it’s easy to see that 2011 is going to be the year of celebrity weddings.  Although the biggest wedding over the year will take place in April when Prince William marries Kate Middelton, some celebrities have already decided to get in on the action with marrying over New Years.

Courtesy of Goss One

NASCAR driver, Kyle Busch decided to celebrate the New Year by marrying his girlfriend of a few years, Samantha Sarcinella, on December 31st in the windy city of Chicago.  Busch proposed to Sarcinella last Feburary, presenting her with a gorgeous engagement ring in their newly built motor home at the Daytona International Speedway.  The couple exchanged wedding rings in front of family and friends at the Holy Name Cathedral.  The couple kept the party going with a reception at the Chicago Cultural Center.  Will 2011 shape up to be “the” year for Busch?

Ringing in the New Year was top priority for the former American Idol contestant and country singer, Kellie Pickler.  Pickler received a gorgeous engagement ring from her boyfriend of over two years, singer-songwriter, Kyle Jacobs, last June while vacationing in Florida.  The couple was able to exchange their wedding rings in private, as they were married on a private Caribbean island free from the press.  The world was notified of the nuptials after the ceremony when Pickler took to Twitter, tweeting about the happy occasion.  Best of luck to the happy couple!

Courtesy of NY Daily News

Another country singer to get married in the Caribbean over New Years, was Shania Twain to her boyfriend of just over a year, Frederic Thiebaud.  The couple began dating after both of their marriages ended with rumors swirling that their spouses had been secretly having an affair.  Twain announced publically last month that Thiebaud had presented her with an engagement ring and that they were planning their wedding.  The couple exchanged wedding rings on New Year’s Day in front of a handful of close family and friends, with Twain’s son, Eja, giving his mother away.  Twain wore a white dress adorned with a black sash that she purchased in a small Swiss boutique; Thiebaud wore a matching white suit with black shirt.  Hopefully the second time around will be the trick for the happy couple.  Which celebrity couple will be the next to walk down the aisle?

Brad Womack – Will The Bachelor Finally Chose a Bride?

Courtesy of ABC

The fourteenth season of The Bachelor kicked off last night on ABC with Brad Womack trying for a second chance at love.  Womack is no stranger to the show, as he served as The Bachelor three years ago during the shows eleventh season.  For any of you who don’t remember, Womack caused quite a stir at the final rose ceremony when he said that he didn’t feel a connection with either contestant and failed to give both Jenni Croft and DeAnna Pappas an engagement ring.

The beginning of the episode had a series of montages trying to showcase Womack as a changed man who did some soul searching since his last time on the show as to why he was afraid of commitment and why he was ready this time around.  He then had a heart to heart sit down with host, Chris Harrison about his feelings going into The Bachelor a second time around and was beyond surprised when Croft and Pappas were brought out to share their feelings about their last meeting at the final rose ceremony.  After that uncomfortable few minutes, the first group of women arrived.  There is nothing better than the first night of the season because we, the audience, is introduced to the 30 women who will be vying for The Bachelor’s affection and get to see which ones we think will quickly become the front runners.

Last night certainly did deliver when Womack was introduced to the first woman of the season.  Chantel O’Brien delivered the slap heard round the world upon meeting the bachelor stating that she had “something for him from every woman in America.”  Womack seemed surprised but said that he deserved it.  After meeting some more of the women, out from the limo steps Sarah Powell, who has Womack get down on one knee and repeat the words “will you marry me?”  Throw in Madison Garton, the vampire enthusiast with her own set of fangs, and this season is surely shaping up to be full of excitement and drama.  Stay tuned to see is Womack finally lets love in and IF he gives one of the lucky ladies an engagement ring!
